I was 20 years old when I started having home Bible studies with the JW's in 1967. After three years of home bible studies and convinced I had found the truth I decided to be baptized by them. I was baptized in 1970 in a JW's assembly in Ponce, Puerto Rico.
As a JW I believed that if I died I would be in a state of non-existence, completely unconscious until the day of the resurrection. I didn't believe I had a conscious spirit that could leave the body and much less that it could come back.
I didn't believe in any kind of miracle healing nor I believed that God would talk to people through visions or dreams. I believed that all kind of healing, miracles and visions were the work of the devil. I was very loyal to these teachings and nobody could convince me of the contrary. I make this clear so the reader can see that the experience I had which I'll be telling here was completely contrary to my own beliefs.
This experience happened after six years of being associated with the JW's and three years after my baptism.
On September 12, 1973 I was ready to have a C-section done at the "Buen Pastor" hospital in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. They started injecting me the anesthesia through the IV and I felt a strange sensation. I couldn't move my body but my mind was awake. I realized they were going to start the surgery but I was still conscious. I tried desperately to move and scream but all my efforts were in vain. I started feeling a terrible pain while they were cutting my abdomen. All of a sudden I heard an audible voice who said "Look what is going to happen to you!" In that instant I came out of my body spinning and found myself at the ceiling of the room. From there I saw when they took my baby out of my womb and I heard the baby crying. I felt very sad and I said: "This is it, everything is over for me on the earth. I was so anxious to see my baby and I couldn't even hold it in my arms. It's over, my children will forget all about me". After this thoughts I started going up spinning at a high speed. I could realize I didn't have a solid body. I was some kind of energy force moving at a high speed but I didn't move at will. I was completely conscious of what was going on. I knew I had left the earth and my children. I arrived at a pitch-black place and I started asking questions.
" Where am I? Is this the universe? Where am I going? Am I going to stay here forever?" All of a sudden I started feeling something very strange. There is nothing on earth I can compare that feeling with. The only word I can use to barely describe what I was feeling is unbearable agony or torment. This was together with a desperate need to have my solid body back. I thought I was going to be there forever and I started screaming "I ACCEPT I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THE EARTH, I ACCEPT I WILL NEVER SEE MY CHILDREN AGAIN, BUT I CAN'T ACCEPT TO BE HERE FOREVER!"
I remembered the voice I heard before coming out of my body who said "look what is going to happen to you." I screamed with desperation, "PLEASE, DON'T LET THIS TO HAPPEN!" "NO, PLEASE, DON'T LET THIS TO HAPPEN!"
